To print a calendar with the birthdates and anniversaries of living people in
Brother's Keeper do the following:
From the main menu of BK5 pick N
On the next menu pick 6
Pick if you want birthdays, anniversaries, or both.
Select all names, or select the descendants of someone. (Note with the
current version of BKCUST5 you can select more than one set of descendants
and combine the lists.)
Then sort the file as instructed on the screen.
Then to print a calendar, pick 8 and it will start the BKCAL5 program.
(If 8 does not say calendar, you have an old version of BKCUST5.)
You can also start BKCAL5 from the C: prompt if you have already sorted
the BIRTH2.DTA file. Note that you can edit the BIRTH2.DTA file with
an ASCII editor before running BKCAL5. You can change the names, or
delete names or add lines.
December 1993 version:
This version of BKCAL5.EXE has a new feature. If you have the program
called Calendar Creator Plus version 5.0 for DOS, you can make a comma
delimited file to import. To do this, select the names for the birthday
file and sort them, then run BKCAL5 and at the first menu, type * and
enter. It will create a file called BIRTHCC.DTA. Then use Calendar
Creator Plus and pick File, then Import. Choose comma delimited. The
file name to import is BIRTHCC.DTA and it is in the directory with your
BK data unless you copied it to \CC5. It will show you the first record
in the file. The fields are as follows. Event name, date, priority,
event style, effect, and optionally graphic, and graphic size. As far as I
know, there is no way to import into Calendar Creator Plus and have the
birthdays show for all years, so pick the year when running the BKCAL5
program. If you need multiple years, you can run BKCAL5 again (after
importing into CCPLUS) and make a file for another year. After you
import into CCPLUS, if the year at the top says 1993, press + to change
it to 1994 to see the imported birthdays.
